ZOTAC’s ION2 Upgrade Kits!

ZOTAC have announced their ION2 based upgrade kits. What exactly is this and why can you want it? If you have bought Mini-ITX motherboard before ION was on the market you may now easily expand your computer. ZOTAC upgrade kit is nothing else than a ION2 GPU (GT218) based graphic card designed to fit to your Mini-ITX chassis.

One of most important advantage of the new ZOTAC’s graphics card is the interface is PCI-E x1 and not the regular x16. So this card will also work on the older 610i and GF6100 based mini-ITX boards. These upgrade kits come in many different sets that include the newer D510 Intel Atom based mini motherboard as well as the older Nvidia 610i chipset based mainboard. The different models include NM10-ITX, NM10-DTX, NF610i-ITX and GF6100-ITX.

New ZOTAC graphic card is powered by GPU clocked at 589MHz, 16 shader cores, 1402MHz shader speed and 512MB of dedicated GDDR3 memory clocked at 790MHz. It is equipped with 64-bit memory bus with DVI, HDMI and VGA for the output connections. Since this is based on the ION 2 GPU, it supports 8-channel LPCM audio, DX10.1, is OpenCL compliant and it comes with PhysX , CUDA and PureVideo HD support.

Cards have been priced to Rs. 3,200 and with complete kit, prices will start at Rs. 7,000 and upwards depending on the extra features (type of Intel CPU – single core/dual core), Wi-Fi and more. If you are someone looking to add some life into your not to well performing HTPC then the ION upgrade kit might be just for you.
