ION 2 powered nettop from Shuttle

It looks that there will be more and more ION 2 powered nettops on the market soon. A few days back I have been writing about ZOTAC’s ION 2 based nettop and here is another one Barebone XS35 announced by Shuttle. Their mini computer is equipped with Intel’s dual-core Atom D510 CPU, clocked at 1.66GHz and Nvidia’s second-generation Ion 2 graphics.

There are not much details about new nettop from Shuttle. Like for now we can tell that new XS35 is only 3 centimeters thick (about 1.18 inches). The chassis will be equipped with VESA mounting interface that would let you to mount it on the back of your TV/computer display. Moreover we know that XS35 will be equipped with an Ethernet port, five USB ports, an HDMI port, VGA out and audio connectors.

We have been informed that this mini computer will include such components as a multi-format card reader, 2.5-inch hard disk (HDD) and an optical slim drive. It will have a mounting for Kensington Lock – so it may be used in public places without fear of being stolen.

And here is the best part for all enthusiasts of mini-itx htpc computers. This setup will be passively cooled what means that it should be noisless (except of hdd and optical drive noise)! It looks that with it’s ION 2 hardware video decoding support and noiseless chassis it may be a great choice for home theater pc!
